San Luis Saturday

This weekend Momma's sorority sisters, Mary, Em, Stacy, & Cassie, came to Galveston! Their husbands all have a "fantasy football weekend" every summer on the Island. This year the girls decided to come too!

They stopped by to visit on their way and meet Madelyn. The next morning Madelyn went to my Mom's. I went to Galveston and spent a great afternoon with them at the San Luis pool...let's just say it was exactly what the Dr. ordered! Fun, Sun, and Friends!!

Cassie, Em, & Stacy are all expecting so come November, January, & February Madelyn will have three new friends! We can't wait to meet Kamryn, Conner, and baby girl Stewart!

Hello Aggieland!

Earlier this month Cousin Katie had a soccer tournament in College Station (aka Aggieland). So, our littlest Aggie made her very first journey to the land of the 12th man with Lolly and I. Her Daddy was very upset he wasn't present for her first trip, but there will undoubtedly be MANY more to come. :)

We met my Aunt Birdie & Uncle Daryl, Granny, Aunt Mimi, Cousins Katie & Ross, and of course ole Uncle Lou for lunch.

Afterwards, my Mom scouted out the only bookstore open late afternoon on a Sunday and BOUGHT IT OUT! Madelyn now has many new items added to her A&M collection...including an A&M STROLLER for Lolly's house!

If You're Happy And You Know It, Then Your Face Will Surely Show It!

We have been capturing lots of smiles on Madelyn lately. Most of the time when you smile at her she will smile back. She is super smiley when she first wakes up in the morning...she loves to smile and talk as she wakes with the sun! :)

The funny thing is she has different types of smiles...I love seeing this range of personality!

Night-time Light Bulbs

Madelyn has reflux pretty bad.

The Dr has her on medication for it, but there are several other things he suggested we do. One is to hold her up for 20/30 minutes after a bottle. Another is to elevate her crib. He suggested we just stack phone books under the legs of one side. I smiled politely, but thought "phone books stacked under her pretty crib...this just won't do".

One night, while holding her up after her 3 am bottle (this feels like the longest 30 minutes EVER) I had an idea...a little light bulb of inspiration struck. I would make an attractive prop to elevate her crib.

The next morning we were off to the Galveston Home Depot. We had a nice fellow cut us two 2x6 boards. We zipped home and nailed those suckers together. Then I whipped out my hot glue gun, took some left over material from her bedding and covered the boards.

There you have it folks...the Mommy Invention.

Madelyn: "Say Momma...what's on the agenda today? "

Momma: "Well, what would you like to do?"

Madelyn: "hmmm...let me think."

Monkeying Around at the Rain Forest: Mallie Jaymes and Patton Turn Two!

Last weekend Madelyn made her debut at the happening birthday party of Mallie Jaymes and Patton. These little cousins had a "monkey" themed party at the Rain Forest Cafe in Galveston. (side note - that place really knows how to get you...both entrances have you walk through their gift shop to get into the restaurant)
