2 Month Check Up

Today Madelyn had her 2 month well visit. For those of you without kiddos, a well visit is a Dr. appointment where he makes sure she is developing on track. She also gets several vaccines. She did not like these shots! It took a lot out her...luckily she had Lolly here to cuddle her as she snoozed all day recuperating!

Splish Splash, I Love My Bath!

We are SO, SO glad Madelyn loves taking a bath. She just loves lounging in the warm water and splashing around. Lolly (my Mom) brought a cd of 30 Favorite Sunday School Songs on one of her trips to help us while Sheldon was at work. Every evening we pop it in and sing along to "The B-I-B-L-E", " "Who Built the Ark", "I'm in the Lord's Army", "Rise and Shine", and more. She just smiles and kicks her legs in the water, not caring a bit that I don't hit one note!

Singing along with her bath time tunes!

Kicking and Splashing

Time to get out..."oh no, I want to keep splashing!"

After her bath we slather on her night time lotion (Momma swipes a little bit - love that smell!), slip into our jammies, and settle in to rock and read...after we help sister Clara hop up on the ottoman of course. Our current favorite? The Berenstain Bears (some old friends of Mommas) go to Sunday School.

One round of "Amazing Grace" (again, far from being on key) and we are off to counting sheep (although they look more like Clara than Mary's little lamb :)

Madelyn has Guests

This past weekend Dad, Sheila, and Nanny made the long drive to come visit! We were so excited to see them. It was Dad and Sheila's first time to see her since the hospital and Nanny's first time to meet her! Let's just say there were lots of arms ready to give mine a rest. :) Uncle Lou is still here for his Coast Guard duty so everyone had a great visit (and enjoyed Queens BBQ - YUMMY).

We had such a good time...aside from when Sheldon (accidentally) deleted EVERY picture off my camera, ensuing slight breakdown on my part (hormones + sleep deprivation + losing BEST PICTURE EVER = crying Momma for 2 hours :) we enjoyed every second!
We got our "four generations" photo with M, Sir, Nanny, and me to add to our collection (we already have one with M, Lolly, Granny, and me). As soon, as we get one of Sheldon and his dad & grandmother with Madelyn we'll have a "Four Generations Post"!

A "Capital" weekend....

Happy 4th of July!!

We hope you all had a fun and safe holiday.

This past weekend Sheldon and I went to Austin...and left Madelyn for the first time! It was harder than I imagined, even though my Mom (who has been with me every time Sheldon goes to work and totally knows the routine) and KK came to our house to keep her and Clara.

We had a wedding to attend. One of my best Lufkin friends, Kim got married and I was a bridesmaid. I have to admit...being more tired than I thought possible, I was not sure I was up for a weekend full of festivities. However, it was just what the doctor ordered! The wedding and reception were both held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin and both were FABULOUS. We stayed at the Four Seasons and it was H-E-A-V-E-N. We had a wonderful time...caught up on sleep (is that possible?), caught up with friends (so fun), and came home refreshed and ready for baby duty again (sort of :)!

On our way home Sheldon and I stopped at the grocery store and bought stuff for hot dogs. After all, it's not Independence Day without a hot dog! I can't wait for next 4th...hopefully fireworks won't scare Madelyn. I love watching fireworks (safely from a distance of course) and we didn't see any this year. I have to say though, I didn't even miss them...we are perfectly content with our own "Sparkler", Madelyn Leigh!
